Limbo// Isle of Us // Talk with Multi-Cultural Family Base // Music

  • The Biscuit Factory 4-6 Anderson Place Edinburgh, EH6 5NP (map)

6:30pm - 8:30pm (Doors 6:00pm)

Hands down the best Scottish film of 2020 (and perhaps the decade), Limbo concludes our Sunday night film viewing. Set in an unnamed Scottish island (actual location North Uist), this moving dark comedy follows the journey of Syrian Omar as he awaits the result of his asylum request. Although set far from Edinburgh and Leith, director Ben Sharrock and actor Amir El-Masry (who plays Omar) visited Multi-Cultural Family Base in Leith to consult with some of the Syrian men in their Men’s Wellbeing Group before production started. Speakers from Multi-Cultural Family Base will be on hand to talk about their involvement before the film.

Limbo will be preceded by short documentary Isle of Us, directed by Laura Wadha which follows the real-life story of a Syrian barber making a new life for himself and his family on the Isle of Bute.

All Tickets are Name-Your-Price on Citizen Tickets. Spaces are limited to allow for social distancing.
